Parents’ panel of expert judges, all of whom have personal experience with their own families in these or similar vehicles, evaluated over 140 models in the following areas: overall safety, including driver assist and safety technology; child passenger car seats including ease of install, space to accommodate seats in rear and third rows and third row access; power and technical specs of each model; the family friendliness of each model; ‘wow’ factors that will appeal to families; and the price for each model in its category.

Both the EX90 and XC90 Recharge came out on top in their respective categories.

Volvo EX90 sets the company on a decisive course towards becoming a fully electric car manufacturer by 2030. EX90 embodies the company’s Scandinavian design principle of form following function, resulting in a versatile and stylish family car that seamlessly pairs cutting-edge technology with modern and elegant proportions.

The Volvo EX90 represents a new era of safety for Volvo Cars. Starting at $76,695 MSRP, the seven-seat SUV further raises the company’s standards in safety and a more sustainable lifestyle. An essential part of the Volvo Cars line-up, the award-winning Volvo XC90 Recharge is a proud statement of Scandinavian design, advanced engineering and spacious versatility. Starting at $71,900 MSRP with the choice of six or seven seats, the plug-in hybrid offers up to 32 miles of pure electric range – up to 530 miles of combined range. With thoughtful engineering, natural materials and efficient powertrains, the Volvo XC90 is the ultimate Scandinavian luxury.
