ROCKLEIGH, NJ (November 15, 2018) – The Volvo XC40 luxury SUV and S60/V60 luxury sedan/wagon are finalists for the 2019 Motor Trend ‘of the Year’ award, one of the most coveted in the industry.
Motor Trend’s well-thought-out nominations look closely at each vehicles’ statistics, as well as put each vehicle through rigorous tests both on and off the road. This year, among competitive contenders for both SUV and Car of the Year, XC40 and S60/V60 are part of the elite few to make their way to the top.
Standout features of the XC40, noted by Motor Trend are its “hip modern styling, pilot assist [and] powertrain.” The XC40, Volvo’s first compact SUV, is focused on a new expression of Scandinavian design with style, innovative technologies and fun-to-drive characteristics. It offers ingenious interior design and storage ideas with more functional storage space in the doors and under the seats, a special space for phones including inductive charging, a foldout hook for small bags, plus a removable waste bin in the tunnel console. XC40 is also Volvo’s first car to offer a subscription service, Care by Volvo, which provides car access via monthly flat-fee subscription rather than ownership.
The S60 compact luxury sedan and V60 compact luxury wagon were nominated as one car to earn a finalist spot for 2019 Motor Trend Car of the Year, “by offering consistent avant-garde styling, safety, and value.”
The S60 and V60 share the same Scalable Product Architecture (SPA) platform with the award-winning 60- and 90-Series cars. They feature a luxurious interior, increased levels of space, advanced connectivity, plus Volvo Cars’ latest driver support systems and other safety technology. The versatile design and many features in each car cater to the diverse needs and realities of modern family life.
Winners will be announced at a ceremony in Los Angeles the evening of November 26.
