At the Detroit Motor Show on January 7, 2002, Volvo Cars launched an eagerly awaited new model. A model customers and dealers especially in America had been yearning for: a Volvo SUV. The model was so anticipated that it racked up 15,000 orders before sales had even started.
Many critics assumed that the Volvo Car Corporation entered the SUV segment too late when the Volvo XC90 was introduced at the Detroit Auto Show in January 2002.Instead, the ingenious XC90 revitalized the whole segment by successfully addressing all the problems of earlier SUVs.
The new, ultra-thin Garmin navigation kit that was introduced together with the new Volvo S60 and V60 in 2010 is now available as an accessory throughout Volvo Cars' current model range.
The new five-cylinder 2-litre turbodiesel introduced in the all-new Volvo S60 is now available throughout Volvo Cars' model range - and there are upgraded six-cylinder petrol engines too.
