For immediate release

TORONTO (July 5, 2004) – The month of June saw year-over-year sales increases for nearly every model, Volvo Cars of Canada Ltd. announced today. By far, the biggest story was the XC70 with June’s sales up 48.1 per cent over the same period last year.

The S60 and V70 also saw a healthy double-digit rise in sales and deliveries of the XC90 grew by 8.1 per cent.

Total June sales declined 4.7 per cent to 963 units vs. 1,011 units during the same month in 2003 as retailers sold down the remaining inventory of the 2004 S40 and V40 models in preparation for their all-new replacements.

“A small quantity of 2005 S40 and V50 models was delivered at the very end of June,” said Volvo Cars of Canada president Paul Cummings, adding that many more are on their way. “This helped to heighten the anticipation for the launch of an excellent vehicle.”

In Canada, for the first six months of 2004 sales declined 2.0 per cent to 5,505 vehicles from the 5,620 units sold in 2003.
