Mike Whittington has joined Polestar to lead the company’s Global Sales Operations. He joins Polestar as the company begins to shape its retail operations, and follows the recent announcement of the new retail lab which is developing concepts for the forthcoming Polestar Space retail environments.
“We are entering an important phase in the launch of the new Polestar brand,” says Thomas Ingenlath, Chief Executive Officer of Polestar. “We defined our retail strategy and are now developing the global retail network we need. Polestar wants to interact with its customers online and face-to-face, and we have begun engaging with the dealer operators who will represent Polestar around the world. Mike’s experience and expertise will help us realise our objectives and keep us on the path to success.”
After over 20 years working in the motor industry, Mike Whittington joins Polestar with experience in global infrastructure, e-commerce strategy and new electric vehicle introductions from a wealth of automotive brands, including Jaguar Land Rover, PSA, Mercedes-Benz and Toyota.
“The motor industry is entering the most significant and challenging period of change in its history,” says Mike Whittington. “The opportunity to join Polestar as a new electric performance brand is very exciting. Combining electrification with highly desirable performance cars, in a new company that has clear and ambitious goals, especially on the sales side, is the sort of challenge I welcome with open arms.”

Polestar is the new electric performance brand from the Volvo Car Group. Polestar will enjoy specific technological and engineering synergies with Volvo Cars and benefit from significant economies of scale as a result of its connection to Volvo Cars. These synergies enable the design, development and production of separately-branded, high performance electrified cars.
Polestar begins this new era with the Polestar 1 – a low-volume Electric Performance Hybrid GT with 600 hp, 1,000 Nm and an electric-only range of 150 km, the longest of any hybrid car in the world. In the future, the Polestar 2 and Polestar 3 will join the portfolio as full battery-electric, higher volume, driver-focused vehicles.
Polestar also applies its technology and expertise to electrified Volvo cars. The new Volvo S60 T8 Polestar Engineered features key Polestar components to create a sharper and more engaging driving experience. Polestar optimisation software upgrades are also available for Volvo models, which enhance six performance areas including engine output.
