VOLVO LAUNCHES BESPOKE LUGGAGE IN COLLABORATION WITH ILSE CRAWFORD

Volvo has linked up with the renowned British designer Ilse Crawford1 of Studioilse to create a limited edition weekend travel bag, produced in Volvo's contemporary upholstery leather.  The bespoke luggage reflects Volvo's dedication and enthusiasm for design and aligns with the classic Scandinavian style that embodies the Volvo aesthetics. The luggage is being produced in a limited edition available exclusively for purchase2 at the online retailer www.brittique.com.

Ilse Crawford is known for creating the vision behind the Soho House brand, including the award winning Soho House New York, Cowshed brand and Cecconis restaurant.  Ilse's design of the luggage translates the Volvo values of style, versatility and everyday luxury. The colour takes reference from the Nordic palette, with a chalk coloured leather and Swedish red lining. It is made in Volvo's ventilated soft leather upholstery which is available in the Volvo S80 executive saloon, V70 and XC70 premium estates and XC90 luxury SUV. It has pockets on each side of the bag for easy access to papers and travel documents. The luggage also comes with a separate practical bag inside, ideal for carrying a pair of shoes or delicate items.

Ilse Crawford comments, "Designing a Volvo bag was quite a personal matter. Coming from a big family a lot of my early life took place in a Volvo: all the critical rites of passage - from going to school to going on first dates, moving house to moving out, all activities from family walks and sleeping in the back, and every range of emotions. A Volvo bag must do the same - be the weekend bag as well as the daily bag for laptops and samples. Yet, it must also be handsome enough to love. The bag has a number of practical elements with a wide padded strap, an all-round zip for easy packing, side pockets for quick access, and the same stitching details as the Volvo seats so that it is ultra durable."

The fine Scottish leather supplier, Bridge of Weir, has been providing leather for Volvo for the last 25 years and this is the first time it has been used for luggage. The leather is known for its high quality and durable nature, so the weekend bag can withstand the same wear and tear as the lifestyle of a car - wherever it is taken.  The bag is also environmentally healthy3 as Volvo's leather upholstery undergoes chromium-free tanning using only natural plant substances which makes it safe for people with contact allergies.

Head of Marketing Anita Fox at Volvo car UK comments "We are delighted to have worked with Ilse Crawford on this unique project and produce a high quality, stylish bag which complements the modern Volvo range so well. It's the ideal companion for today's active person who works all week and likes to jump in their car and get away for the weekend."
