DYNAMIC EXPANSION FOR VOLVO UK'S AMATEUR GOLF PROGRAMME

Volvo Car UK is enhancing its amateur golf programme with more players and more coverage this year by taking over the UK's leading amateur tour, the Fore Tour, and rebranding as the Volvo Masters Amateur Tour as well as launching a major media partnership with The Daily Telegraph Golf Club.

The Volvo Masters Amateur Tour1 gives club golfers of all levels the chance to play competitive golf at top venues ranging from St Andrews to The Grove and from Sunningdale to Royal Birkdale.   The 2008 Tour began in earnest at Saunton Golf Club, North Devon at the end of March where enthusiastic golfers started out on a road which could eventually take them to the UK Final at Celtic Manor on 12/13 October, or even to the Volvo Masters Amateur World Final at Valderrama at the start of November.

Enjoying the UK's highest readership amongst amateur golfers, the Daily Telegraph has recently launched the Telegraph Golf Club within its Sports section. This will serve together with the online version, http://www.telegraphgolfclub.co.uk/ to provide regular coverage of the 2008 Tour together with all aspects of amateur golf from course reviews and playing tips to membership benefits and free prize draws.

Lesley Milne, Events and Sponsorship Manager of Volvo Car UK comments; "Volvo has been involved in golf sponsorship for more than 25 years and the 2008 Volvo Masters Amateur Tour marked a major step forward in our UK amateur golf programme with more events and better courses attracting increasing numbers of players.  Now, with regular coverage within the Daily Telegraph Golf Club we anticipate that the Tour will have even greater awareness and impact amongst amateur golfers."
