Volvo Car Corporation (Volvo Cars) has appointed Mikael Ohlsson to its Board of Directors effective October 1. Ohlsson is a former President and CEO of IKEA Group and takes over the position that was vacated last year by Håkan Samuelsson, currently President and CEO of Volvo Car Group.
Mikael Ohlsson has worked for the IKEA Group for over 30 years and was a member of the group’s executive management for almost 20 years. Between 2009 and 2013 he was President and CEO of IKEA Group. Mikael Ohlsson brings a deep knowledge of customer-focused retail operations and will therefore be an invaluable addition to the Board of Directors of Volvo Cars.
“I am delighted to welcome Mikael to the company’s Board of Directors,” says Li Shufu, Chairman of the Board at Volvo Cars. “He has decades of management experience within a global company with a strong global brand. Furthermore, because of his background he has an excellent understanding of what it means to guard and build on Volvo Cars’ Swedish heritage as the company continues its transformation journey.”
