Volvo Cars’ 20th consecutive month of global growth


  • Global sales of 29,980 cars, up 0.1 per cent versus February last year
  • Growth in all major markets


Volvo Cars posted a 20th consecutive month of retail sales growth in February with Europe, China and the United States all recording sales increases compared to February 2014.


China reported a 7.7 per cent sales increase to a total of 4,812 cars with the XC60 Crossover being the best-selling model. Sales in Sweden amounted to 4,690 cars, up 13.1 per cent versus February last year, and the market share continues to be very strong at 20 per cent. The United States were up by 0.5 per cent to 4,012 cars.


“The good momentum continues and we are very pleased by the extremely positive reception of the all-new Volvo XC90” said Alain Visser, Senior Vice President Marketing, Sales and Customer Service at Volvo Cars. “We already have more than 18,000 pre-orders for the XC90 so we look forward to delivering the first cars to customers during the spring”.

The Volvo XC60 was the best-selling mode in February with 10,381 sold cars (2014: 8,672), followed by the Volvo V40 and V40 Cross Country for which deliveries reached a total of 6,413 cars (2014: 6,681). The S60 and S60L models were third best selling at 4,258 cars (2014: 3,812). Sales figures by model can be found in the Sales Volumes section of the Global Newsroom.

For the 2014 financial year, Volvo Car Group recorded an operating profit of 2,252 MSEK (1,919 MSEK in 2013). Revenue over the period amounted to 129,959 MSEK (122,245 MSEK). For the full year 2014, global sales reached a record 465,866 cars, an increase of 8.9 per cent versus 2013. The record sales and operating profit cleared the way for Volvo Car Group to continue investing in its global transformation plan.
