Volvo Car USA and Canada reports 8,309 cars sold in January

MAHWAH, NJ (February 5, 2024) After a record year in 2023 Volvo Car USA and Canada sold 8,309 cars in January, more than a quarter of which were Recharge models with a fully electric or plug-in hybrid powertrain.

Sales in the U.S. reached 7,716 cars, up 0.3 percent over the same period last year. Recharge models accounted for more than 24 percent of that figure, while the share of fully electric models was more than three percent.

In Canada sales reached 593 cars, more than 50 percent of which were Recharge models, an increase of nearly three percentage points over the same period last year. The share of fully electric models was more than 21 percent.

For January the Volvo XC90 was the top-selling model in the U.S. with sales reaching 2,437 cars (2023: 2,510 cars), followed by the XC60, with total sales of 2,298 cars (2023: 2,515 cars), and XC40 at 1,694 cars (2023: 1,641). Sales of the S60 compact sedan gained the most of all models, increasing 133 percent to 834 cars (2023: 358 cars).

For the full year 2023, Volvo Car Group recorded a record-breaking core operating profit of SEK 25.6 billion. Revenue in 2023 amounted to an all-time high of SEK 399.3 billion, while global sales reached a record 708,716 cars.
