TORONTO (August 3, 2005) – Volvo Cars of Canada Ltd. today announced sales of 1,025 vehicles for the month of July, an increase of 5.7 per cent over the same month in 2004.
Year-to-date, Volvo retailers have sold 7,132 vehicles representing an increase of 10.1 per cent over the first seven months of 2004.
July marked the introduction of the company’s 2006 model year line-up, bringing with it the next-generation all-wheel drive system. “Vehicle sales in July showcased the strength of the Volvo line-up,” said Paul Cummings, President and CEO of Volvo Cars of Canada Ltd. “While the new S40 and V50 continue to post strong sales numbers, the 2006 model year brings with it the next step in security and performance with the Volvo All Wheel Drive system with Instant Traction. This next-generation system offers Canadian buyers another compelling reason to choose all-wheel drive.”
The electronically-controlled all-wheel drive system – available as standard or optional equipment on all Volvo vehicles for 2006 – features new technology to help improve traction. The new Volvo All Wheel Drive with Instant Traction system engages the rear wheels faster than the previous system to improve take-off from stop and provide enhanced traction on slippery surfaces.
