Improved sales for every product line helped Volvo Cars of Canada Ltd. set a new record for March, the company has announced.
A spike in sales of the popular S60 sports sedan and a substantial increase in sales of the XC90 SUV helped the company deliver 1,312 new units in March, a 10 per cent improvement over the previous March record of 1,193 units, set in 2004.
The strong March sales helped propel sales for the first three months of 2005 to 2,578 units, ahead 6 per cent from the 2,433 vehicles sold in the first quarter of 2004.
March was the best month this year for every vehicle in the Volvo product line-up.
“The tremendous increase in S60 sales – particularly S60 AWD – shows the depth of support for this car,” said Paul Cummings, president and chief executive officer of Volvo Canada. “S60 has maintained its appeal despite a raft of new products and lots of aggressive competition.”
“The growth in XC90 sales tells us that buyers have heard our message about fuel efficiency and environmental responsibility,” added Cummings. “The XC90 continues to be the new standard by which premium SUVs will be measured.”
