Volvo Car Corporation Introduces New Polestar Powertrain

S60 & V60 Polestar’s Now Equipped with Enhanced Drive-E Powertrain

RICHMOND HILL, ON. (April 1st, 2016.) The new evolution of the Volvo S60 and V60 Polestar takes the next step forward in performance and efficiency, introducing a heightened version of the award-winning Drive-E powertrain from Volvo Cars. The new Polestar features an enhanced four-cylinder, 2.0 litre twin-charged Drive-E engine producing 367 horsepower and 347 lb-ft of torque. The vehicle sprints from 0-100 km/h in just 4.7 seconds thanks to the Polestar-tuned BorgWarner four-wheel drive system and the new Polestar-optimized eight-speed Geartronic automatic gearbox.

Additional changes compared to a standard T6 engine include a bigger turbo, new connecting rods, new camshafts, a larger air intake and a higher capacity fuel pump. Other new features included on the upcoming Polestar model include a 20” rim, Polestar calibrated electro-assisted power steering and a new slotted brake disc.

In 2016, 47 markets will receive Polestar vehicles – compared to 13 in 2015 – and the production volume will now increase to over 1000 units globally.

The 2017 Polestar will be available in Canada in Fall, 2016.
