The XC90 Twin Engine features a two-litre, four-cylinder supercharged and turbocharged Drive-E petrol engine that powers the front wheels and an 80 hp (60 kW) electric motor that drives the rear wheels. In the All Wheel Drive mode, the power balance between the front and rear wheels is controlled electronically.
