TORONTO (October 5, 2023) – Volvo Car Canada sets a new September sales record with 1,266 cars sold, up 42 percent compared to the same month last year. The previous September record of 1,161 cars sold was set in 2004.

For the first nine months of 2023, Canada sold 9,101 cars, an increase of 17.5 percent compared with the same period last year.

The sale of Recharge models—those with a fully electric or plug-in hybrid powertrain—grew 232.4 percent compared to September last year and accounted for 28.4 percent of all cars sold in the market.  The share of fully electric cars accounted for 14.0 percent of overall sales.

During the month of September the Volvo XC60 was the top-selling model with sales of 471 cars, followed by the XC40 at 386 cars, and the XC90 at 243 cars.

“Volvo continues to appeal to more and more people who appreciate our cars, especially our fast and efficient electrified models,” said Matt Girgis, President, Volvo Car Canada. “Our journey toward being a fully electric automaker by 2030 remains on track.”
