Peter Horbury

 

 

Ford Motor Company's Executive Director of Design, North America

Mr. Horbury is currently Ford Motor Company's Executive Director of Design, North America. He is responsible for overseeing the design strategy and execution involving all Ford, Lincoln and Mercury products in North America, a position he took on January 1, 2004.

 

Prior to that Mr. Horbury was the Premier Automotive Group's Executive Director of Design, responsible for overseeing future product design strategy and design processes for Aston Martin, Jaguar, Land Rover and Volvo.

 

Mr. Horbury has also been Vice President and Chief Designer for Volvo Car Corporation. Mr. Horbury enhanced Volvo's reputation by proactively directing the Studios in Sweden, Spain, and California. He carried the responsibilities for all design aspects of Volvo Cars.

 

Peter has also worked for MGA Developments Limited, England as Director, Styling & Design where he was responsible to Managing Director for all visual aspects and product design. Taking clients' brief from concept state to scale and full size clay models to final presentation model, while directing designers and clay modelers for this task. Peter managed the styling studio, regarding personnel and equipment, liaison with clients, negotiating and producing proposals, assistance in marketing and company promotion.

 

In 1981, Peter worked in Volvo Car BV, Netherlands, as the Consultant where he was responsible to Chief Designer for the interior styling programmed of Volvo 480, 440, & 460 cars, studying the exterior concept for these cars.

 

From 1974, he was the Designer for Chrysler Car Corporation, UK and the Senior Designer for Ford Motor Company, UK and Germany until joining Volvo Car Corporation, Sweden in September 1979 as Consultant Designer.
