Recognized as the nation's largest and longest running urban Father's Day event, Real Men Cook will be held simultaneously in 10 cities on Father's Day, June 16, 2002.

Founded in Chicago in 1989 by Resource Associates International (RAI), Real Men Cook is a celebration of food, fathers, families and communities.  The event features food sampling, activities for kids and tributes to the real men in families and communities.

For the third consecutive year, Real Men Cook will be held in Atlanta, Chicago, Dallas, Detroit, Miami, Los Angeles, New Orleans, New York, Philadelphia and Washington, D.C.   Sponsored primarily by State Farm, Lawry's, Showtime, Upscale Magazine and Rolling Out Weekly nationally, Real Men Cook has raised more than $750,000 for nonprofit partners.

This year, more than 1,000 Real Men in 10 cities will cook for more than 25,000 people.  The men, who come from all walks of life, will donate their time, culinary talents and delicious dishes to raise money for deserving non-profits focused on families, health, education, culture and the community.

They will be joined by a variety of political, entertainment, media and sports celebrities from across the country.   National endorsers include Magic Johnson, Dr. Na'im Akbar, BET news anchor Ed Gordon, author and cultural commentator Dr. Michael Eric Dyson, recording artist and MTV host Dr. Dre and Electronic Urban Radio (EUR) founder Lee Bailey.
