ROGER ORMISHER

Vice President of Public Affairs

Roger Ormisher was appointed Vice President of Public Affairs for Volvo Cars of North America, LLC. in January 2001. Mr. Ormisher enhances Volvo's reputation by proactively directing activities that promote the Volvo brands, products, services and philosophy to a diverse audience.

In July 2000, Roger joined Volvo Cars of North America, LLC. in the Western Region as Director, Public Relations where he was responsible for establishing a new communications base for Volvo.

Roger comes to the position after spending nearly eight years at Volvo Cars UK where he helped re-establish the public relations department, taking Volvo from 27th place to number 1 in 1998's UK Motoring Journalist's survey.

Originally trained at the London College of Printing in periodical journalism, Roger spent time in local newspapers before entering the automotive industry in 1986 as Press Officer for the Automobile Association, the United Kingdom's cousin to AAA, with special responsibility for technical matters. From 1988, he was the Press Officer at Renault UK until joining Volvo in September 1992 as Media Relations Manager. Here Roger acted as launch editor of the award-winning Volvo Magazine, planned and implemented the Public Relations strategy for Volvo's return to BTCC racing and also managed Volvo UK's events and sports marketing functions.

The newly re-structured PR team in North America has already tasted success, winning PR Week Product Brand Development Award 2003 as well as creating a launch strategy for Volvo's first SUV, the XC90 that has resulted in 15 major media Awards for the vehicle.
