NEW YORK CITY (April 3, 2006) – Volvo Cars of North America today announced that Tiffany & Co. has been chosen to design and craft trophies for its prestigious national hero recognition initiative, the Volvo for life Awards. The awards will be given to the winners April 12 at the fourth annual Volvo for life Awards ceremony at the Rainbow Room in New York City.

The Volvo for life Awards (www.volvoforlifeawards.com) is the largest-ever national search for and celebration of everyday heroes in the categories of safety, quality of life and environment, with Volvo Cars of North America providing $1 million in awards and contributions in honor of heroes.

Volvo selected Tiffany & Co. based on the companies' shared core values of high design and quality of craftsmanship standards. Tiffany and Volvo designers worked in tandem to design the trophies, which can be viewed beginning today at www.volvoforlifeawards.com.

“The Volvo for life Awards is the culmination of a near year-long search for outstanding everyday individuals doing the extraordinary for their communities,” said Anne Bélec, president and chief executive officer of Volvo Cars of North America. “We sought to create a true and beautiful memorial to their commitments, one that can be passed for generations. I can’t think of a better organization than Tiffany & Co. to help us achieve this.”

On April 12, Volvo will honor heroes with financial contributions, documentary films and the trophies at the Volvo for life Awards Ceremony in New York City. The event will be hosted by actor Benjamin Bratt and feature musical performances by Avril Lavigne and the Harlem Gospel Choir, among others.

Trophies will be awarded to the Volvo for life Awards category winners in the areas safety, quality of life and environment; the Alexandra Scott Butterfly Award winner, given to a youth hero; and the Volvo for life Friendship Award winners, given to a Best Buddies pair who represent the mission of the Best Buddies organization.

Also at the ceremony, one of the category winners will be unveiled as the grand award winner and be named “America’s Greatest Hometown Hero.” He or she will be presented with a Volvo car every three years for the rest of his or her life.

The fourth annual program, launched in July 2005, called for individuals nationwide to visit www.volvoforlifeawards.com and nominate an unsung hometown hero they know doing the extraordinary. Volvo received 4,341 nominations representing all 50 states.
