February sales for Volvo Cars of North America

ROCKLEIGH, NJ -- March 1, 2001 -- Led by the continuing strength of the new Volvo S60 and the V70 Cross Country, sales Volvo Cars of North America, LLC. maintained a steady pace in February with a total of 8,408 units delivered, the company has announced.

 

Year to date sales of 17,036 units for all of North America represent a 16.4% drop from the pace established during the same period of 2000. Canadian Volvo sales totaled 577 units, up 23.8% in February and 40.5% compared to the same period as last year.

 

Sales of the new Volvo S60 sports sedan in February kept the early pace established in January, totaling 2,166 units for the month (vs. 2,152 in January), while the new Volvo Cross Country also continued to show strength. "With so many new models in our line-up for 2001, we are enjoying good consumer interest and retailer traffic," said Mark LaNeve, President of Volvo Cars of North America. "We believe that will translate into good spring sales results."

The company provides marketing, sales, parts, service, technology and training support to the 328 Volvo automobile retailers in the US and 42 in Canada. The 2001 Volvo automobile line includes the flagship S80 luxury sedan, versatile V70 wagon and rugged Cross Country, C70 coupe and convertible, the sporty, new S60 sedan and compact S40 and V40 models.
