New Volvo On Call® Application Extends Reach of Roadside Assistance to iPhone®  Users

 

ROCKLEIGH, N.J. (Dec. 17, 2010) - In time for holiday travel, Volvo Cars of North America (VCNA) is introducing the free Volvo On Call® application for iPhone®, which gives users expanded access to its roadside assistance program anywhere, anytime.

 

The Volvo On Call® app puts drivers in touch with a roadside assistance agent who can quickly dispatch reliable and professional roadside assistance to the vehicle's exact location, as determined by GPS-enabled technology. The 24/7/365 service includes towing to the nearest Volvo retailer, lockout assistance, battery jump-starting, flat tire change, emergency gasoline delivery, trip routing and more.

 

"This new app leverages technology to provide the complete suite of roadside assistance services to Volvo drivers and supports the guiding principle behind everything we make at Volvo - safety for our customers," said Chris Dauerer, VCNA's vice president of customer service.  "It just makes life a little easier for our customers."

 

The app also provides users with an estimated time of arrival for the dispatched tow service or service provider, updates throughout the roadside or towing service and an emergency response button for urgent situations.  Users can even input relevant data about their Volvo for more efficient service.

 

The free app was developed by VCNA and Cross Country Automotive Services (Cross Country), Volvo's roadside assistance partner. Cross Country's Human Interface Design team worked closely with Volvo to ensure the app offers a user-friendly design while adhering to Volvo's branding requirements. As a result, Volvo owners enjoy a mobile user experience in line with Volvo's reputation for functional design.  The app can be downloaded on the App Store (http://www.itunes.com/appstore/).
