Volvo and Mobileplay Team to Deliver First Mobile Auto Configurator; Innovative Free Application for BlackBerries, Smartphones and PDAs

Irvine, Calif. Feb. 8, 2006 - Volvo Cars of North America today announced a partnership with mobile content delivery pioneer Mobileplay that introduces the first-of-its-kind new car configurator that runs on BlackBerries, Treos, Windows Mobile Smartphones and other smart mobile devices.

For the first time within the automobile industry, individuals can build their ideal vehicle to specification on their mobile device. The Volvo configurator allows individuals to configure their dream Volvo, including exterior color, interior fabrics, wheels, drive system and options packages. The configurator displays the buyer’s choices and allows them to contact a Volvo dealer, if desired, to place the order.

Designed to promote the 2006 Volvo XC70 (Cross Country) and Volvo XC90 sport utility vehicle, the configurator was developed and will be distributed by Mobileplay, which develops advertising and free content delivery technology for smart mobile devices.

“As the first auto manufacturer to have its own Web site, launch a car online, place banner ads, sponsor blog sites, produce podcasts, and create its own video game, Volvo’s partnership with Mobileplay is one more way we are using the digital realm to reach market influencers,” said Denise Clause, e-Business Manager for Volvo Cars of North America.

“As the owner of six Volvos in my lifetime,” said Mobileplay founder and CEO James Ryan, “it is with great pleasure that our company is able to contribute to this unique campaign to bring a pioneering new technology to the car shopping experience.”

Volvo is launching the configurator to highlight its use of technology to blend safety and beauty in its products, Clause added. Users of Palm OS, Pocket PC /Windows Mobile and BlackBerry devices can download Mobileplay and the Volvo configurator application for free at www.mobileplay.com via their desktop computer or over the air. Individuals may download the configurator by visiting www.volvocars.us.
