Standard Safety Features

 

Today, the Volvo model line comes with the following safety systems as standard equipment:

  • Four-wheel anti-lock brakes
  • Four air bags -- two in front, one mounted on the door side of each front seat
  • Front seat belt pyrotechnic pretensioners
  • Side Impact Protection System (SIPS)
  • Three-point safety belts in all five seating positions (four for convertible/coupe)
  • Seat belt lockability for securing child restraint systems in every seat except driver's
  • Head restraints in all five seating positions (four for convertible/coupe)
  • Daytime running lights
  • Child-proof rear door locks
  • Thoughtfully engineered and manufactured body structure which helps absorb impact energy
  • Anti-submarining seat design which helps hold passengers in position during accidents
  • Integrated child booster cushion in rear center arm rest (optional in wagons)
  • ISO-FIX child/baby seat attachment -- a system standard in the new V70, Cross Country, S40 and V40 that makes it easier to correctly install and remove child safety seats
  • Inflatable Side Curtains (IC) provide added protection against head injury (N/A in C70 Convertible)
  • Whiplash Protection System (WHIPS) -- a seat design that helps to diffuse the energy of a rear impact collision
