Volvo Car USA maintains sales of Recharge models amid industry challenges in May

MAHWAH, NJ (June 2, 2022) Volvo Car USA reported sales of 9,372 cars in May with Recharge models (EVs and PHEVs) representing 35.7 percent of total volume, indicating continued consumer demand for electrified vehicles.

 

In California, Recharge models accounted for more than three out of four (77 percent) retail deliveries, up six percent from the previous month.


In Canada, May sales of Recharge models accounted for 34 percent of total sales, up 2.4 percentage points over the previous month. Overall sales increased 2.8 percent over May 2021.

 

The Volvo Car Americas region as a whole saw 11,513 cars sold during the month.

 

“Demand for our cars remains strong but we foresee continued inventory challenges ahead,” said Anders Gustafsson, Senior Vice President, Volvo Car Americas and President and CEO, Volvo Car USA.
