Volvo Adventure - Inspiration and Knowledge for the Leaders of the Future

Volvo and the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP) challenge young people all over the world to participate in Volvo Adventure, an exciting competition for a better environment. The educational program gives young people from all around the world the opportunity to display their local environment-care projects.

Neha Rao was one of almost one hundred enthusiastic participants in the Volvo Adventure Award in Göteborg in May this year. Neha and her team, “Turning over a new leaf - from Environment to Empowerment”, won the national contest in India and traveled to Göteborg to present their environmental project at the international award ceremony.

"The Volvo Adventure was the best thing we have ever been involved in – from the beginning of our project back in India to the final in Sweden, the project has stimulated, inspired, encourage and stretched us all, but it was worth every single minute".

Neha Rao and her team ended up on first place in the Volvo Adventure Award 2004. It is now time for the third run of Volvo Adventure with final in May 2005.

“We have formed a partnership with the youth of the world who have the long-term future of the environment in their capable young hands, as well as an alliance with the United Nations Environment Program says Hans-Olov Olsson, President and CEO of Volvo Car Corporation. "We look forward to continuing and indeed extending our environmental work through the Volvo Adventure as well as the many ongoing environmental initiatives within Volvo Cars and AB Volvo", he continues.

Volvo Adventure is a joint project between the Volvo Group, Volvo Car Corporation and UNEP. It’s an internet-based global environmental competition for young people, aged 10 to 16. The best projects will be invited to attend the Volvo Adventure Award conference in Göteborg in May 2005. The conference will enable the students to share ideas with other young people from all over the world. The three best entries will receive grants (of $10,000, $6,000 and $4,000 USD respectively) to continue the project work. The winning team will also be invited to participate in UNEP’s annual conference for children and youth.
