Volvo Car USA reports April sales results

  • VCUSA reports 3,866 cars sold in April 2020
  • Overall year-to-date sales decrease 23%

ROCKLEIGH, NJ (May 5, 2020) Volvo Car USA reports 3,866 cars sold in April 2020 after week-over-week of improved sales performance throughout the month. Sales were led by an especially strong performance by Volvo’s southern region and its retailers.

“Though we continue to feel the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, it has also pushed us to find new ways to continue offering sales and service to our customers,” said Anders Gustafsson, President and CEO of Volvo Car USA. “I’m especially proud of our retailer partners who’ve managed to safely serve our customers during this time, as well supporting their communities.”

Following strong year-over-year growth in January and February, U.S. sales through April have reached 23,351 cars this year compared to the same period last year, a decline of just over 23 percent.

The XC40, XC60, and XC90 SUVs accounted for 85 percent of the total business for the month, while the V60 crossover saw a significant increase in sales thanks to the introduction of the Cross Country model.

For Volvo owners, the launch of the Volvo Valet app, offers a convenient and safe way to access vehicle maintenance without leaving home. While currently applicable only to maintenance and service, Volvo Valet will be expanded to include lease and purchase deliveries, lease returns, and overnight test drives later in 2020.
