ROCKLEIGH, NJ (March 3, 2020) Volvo Car USA continues to show strength in 2020 with strong February sales. The brand posted 18.2 percent growth year-over-year with 7,841 cars sold in February 2020 compared to 6,635 cars sold in February 2019.

SUV sales continue to spearhead the brand’s growth. The XC90 saw a 21.7 percent growth over February 2019 reflecting a successful mid-cycle update for 2020 model year including the addition of a six-seat passenger configuration and updates to the interior and exterior design of the vehicle.

The XC40 outpaces the line-up in terms of percent growth, up 64 percent year-over-year; more than doubling its sales number from February 2019 to February 2020. This strength is expected to continue as Volvo prepares to launch the XC40 Recharge, Volvo’s first fully battery electric SUV.

“The strength of the SUV market in the US is undeniable,” said Anders Gustafsson, President and CEO of Volvo Car USA. “With three award winning vehicles in the segment, we are well positioned to continue offering customers safe and desirable SUVs that fit their individual lifestyles.”
