A Volvo you can subscribe to named an Autotrader Best New Car for 2019

ROCKLEIGH, NJ - The Volvo XC40 is one of the Best New Cars for 2019 according to the experts at Autotrader.

The XC40 luxury compact SUV is the newest Volvo sport utility, offering a unique combination of design, functionality and technology. Volvo designers affectionately refer to it as a tough little robot. The interior was developed for modern urban life with plenty of style. Clever storage and convenience solutions for laptops, parking claim tickets, to-go bags, wireless mobile device charging and tissues keep clutter at bay. There’s even a washable trash bin for messier things.

Consumers can choose to get into an XC40 through traditional purchase or lease, or through the Care by Volvo subscription program available via computer or digital app. Just click, subscribe and drive. One monthly price covers car payment, insurance, maintenance and wear and tear. Care by Volvo customers can upgrade to a new XC40 or even switch to an S60 after 12 months for any reason. More information is available on the Care by Volvo website.

“The XC40 is our first ever compact luxury SUV and has been quite good at attracting attention,” said Anders Gustafsson, senior vice president Americas and president and CEO Volvo Car USA. “Having Autotrader put their stamp of approval on it is just fantastic and makes us very proud.”

“Volvo packs a ton of luxury and style into a small, affordable package with the XC40. It feels far more premium than the under $40,000 price suggests," said Brian Moody, executive editor for Autotrader. "We also like Volvo's forward-thinking subscription plan that extends the Volvo vibe to the entire purchasing, ownership and exchange experience."

The 2019 XC40 starts at $33,700 or $700 per month for a Care by Volvo subscription. It’s available in three trim levels: well-equipped Momentum, luxurious Inscription, and sporty R-Design. Standard equipment across all models includes Volvo’s nine-inch, tablet-like Sensus Touchscreen, leather upholstery, and Apple Carplay and Android Auto functionality. The Volvo City Safety suite of safety technology and features is also standard on all Volvo Car models. Two turbocharged powertrains are available in the XC40: A 187-hp T4 FWD and a 248-hp T5 AWD.  Both are mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission.

The Autotrader Best New Cars Award is intended to benefit a broad set of shoppers by highlighting a diverse group of 12 vehicles. Logging thousands of miles, the Autotrader editorial experts chose the winners of the annual Best New Cars based on a wide-ranging set of criteria, including interior comfort and materials, build quality, available features and ride quality, and each vehicle was agreed upon unanimously by the entire editorial and data team.

To be considered, a vehicle must be of the current or next model year and be available to purchase at the time of the awards announcement. It must have a base price under $75,000, offering a significant value for the asking price. Along with value, Autotrader also considered available technology and a rewarding or dynamic driving experience as a priority. With these factors in mind, the 2019 winners all have something special that separates them from the competition. The variety of award-winning models are weighted equally and are unranked, as Autotrader's experts understand the needs of each shopper are unique.
