Volvo Cars has performed crash tests with electric cars in their crash test facility. This image illustrates a pole crash test with the C30 DRIVe Electric in 50 km/h (30 mph). The Lithium-Ionbatteries are installed in the propshaft tunnel and in the space normally occupied by the fuel tank, outside the passenger compartment and away from the crumple zones.
