Volvo Cars, the premium car maker, has reported a third consecutive year of record sales in 2016, increasing 6.2 percent compared to 2015 to 534,332 cars, underlining the breadth and depth of the company’s ongoing global transformation.
Volvo Cars reported a solid double-digit sales increase for the first six months of the year, posting growth of 10.5 per cent to 256,563 cars compared to the same period in 2015. Sales of the new Volvo XC90 were the main growth driver globally.
The new Volvo S90 luxury sedan made its Chicago debut today at the Chicago Auto Show, while the XC90 SUV presented with three awards. Volvo’s complete lineup of premium cars will be on display at McCormick Place February 12-21.
Robin Page, Head of Interior Design at Volvo Car Group, has been chosen from a list of highly distinguished automotive designers to receive the Interior Designer of the Year Award. The judging panel also awarded the new Volvo XC90 with the title "Interior Design of the Year – Production Vehicle".
Volvo Car Group, the premium car maker, has reported an operating profit of SEK1,660m for the first half of 2015, compared to SEK968m* for the same period in 2014. Revenue for the first half was SEK75,215m, up from SEK66,982m* in the first half of 2014.
