Volvo's R cars have always been about dynamic design and an exciting driving experience. For the 2009 Model Year, Volvo Cars of North America (VCNA) will introduce R-Design for the C30, S40, V50 and XC90.
Having good environmental properties doesn't mean a car has to be boring. Quite the contrary: with R-Design, the Volvo C30, S40 and V50 DRIVe can be styled just as expressively and exclusively as the other model variants.
The S40 was the result of a joint-venture between Volvo Cars and Mitsubishi; the two companies built their own series of cars on a common technical platform side by side in the Dutch NedCar plant. With the S40, Volvo offered the same comfort and safety levels in compact size as the drivers of the larger 850 had already enjoyed for some years.
