Thank you for joining us at the award-winning and uniquely themed Fish House Hotel and Restaurant in Chilgrove, Chichester for Volvo Car UK's Model Year 12 UK Press Launch. With a direct nautical link with the start of this year's Volvo Ocean Race, the restaurant is the perfect place to host our event.
During your time with us, you will learn about Volvo's new Model Year 12 enhancements, including new engine and drivetrain options, specification updates and new trim levels. You will have the opportunity to test drive Volvo's latest model line-up on two routes during the day, plus there are a limited number of places available to take a quick run out in a prototype Volvo C30 Electric.
Complementing the marine-themed hotel, our event will also enable you to experience first hand what it is like to take part in the world's most grueling sailing event by racing across the Solent in a Volvo Ocean Race boat. Once you reach the finish line, you will sample the delights of what the Isle of Wight can offer at The Coast Restaurant. And don't worry - if you lost the outbound race, you will have the opportunity to set the record straight on the return leg!
We have the following models available for you to drive during the event:
NEW D5 WITH START/STOP
Volvo's characterful D5 engine has been upgraded for MY12 with additional power, torque and lower CO2 emissions, adding extra benefit to the S60, V60, XC60, V70, XC70 and S80. With the addition of start/stop and a number of internal changes to the engine, Volvo is now able to offer one of the cleanest and most powerful engines with the highest output for a car below 130g/km of CO2.
D3 WITH START/STOP
Volvo's D3 2.0D engine has received a number of internal changes and been tuned for better driveability. It is also now fitted with start/stop technology if mated to a manual gearbox.
VOLVO C30, V50, S60 and V60 DRIVe
The latest C30, V50, S60 and V60 DRIVe models have now been fitted with a new 115PS 1.6 turbocharged diesel engine and feature start/stop as standard. The C30 and V50 versions produce just 99g/km of CO2, while the larger S60 and V60 models produce an impressive sub-120g/km CO2. The C30 and V50 are exempt from the annual road tax while the S60 and V60 models are exempt from first year road tax and only command a £30 annual tax in subsequent years. On top of this, the C30 and V50 can also enter the London Congestion Charge zone free of charge.
