Volvo Car UK restructures senior management team to prepare company for future business ambitions

•    Nicole Melillo Shaw appointed Commercial Operations Director

•    Ben Roth takes up role of Consumer Director

•    Senior appointments help strengthen the company for continued growth and to realise its business objectives


Volvo Car UK is pleased to announce two senior management team appointments, positioning the company for its next transformation phase.


Nicole Melillo Shaw takes up the role of Commercial Operations Director, while Ben Roth is appointed Consumer Director. Nicole was previously Volvo Car UK’s Consumer Director, while Ben was latterly its UK Online Business Director.


The appointments, effective immediately, strengthen the company’s leadership to help secure continued growth and realise its future development ambitions.


As Commercial Operations Director, Nicole is leading a change programme to transform the national sales company into a consumer-centric organisation and to accelerate growth across the business. She leads a team of 60 working across sales delivery, product and offer, and fleet and remarketing. She succeeds Matt Galvin in the role, following his departure to join another automotive manufacturer.


In her previous role, Nicole was able to draw on more than 20 years’ out-of-industry experience and insight to help Volvo Car UK evolve into a fast-paced, agile and data-driven business with a consumer-first focus.


Commenting on her new appointment, Nicole said: “This is a pivotal time for Volvo, and as we switch to a direct model, my focus will be on ensuring sustainable, profitable growth by strengthening our online operations and our partnerships with retailers, ultimately delivering a best-in-class consumer experience.”


As Consumer Director, Ben takes on responsibility for consumer experience, acquisition and retention, and marketing. Prior to joining Volvo Car UK in 2021, he gained experience in financial services products, and in marketing and e-commerce activities with one of the UK’s leading retail groups. His focus is on further developing Volvo Car UK’s fast-growing online business, led by the increasing uptake of subscriptions.


Commenting on his new appointment, Ben said: “I look forward to continuing the great work Nicole has done in rooting the company’s strategic direction in consumer data and insight. I aim to use my experience to develop our online-first direct-to-consumer business model, ensuring that we succeed as an omnichannel retailer.”
