It's not just new cars that get crash-tested by Volvo. Long after leaving the factory, the company's commitment continues to make sure that every Volvo remains at the highest safety standard possible throughout its life.

If involved in an accident, Volvo owners who take their car to a Volvo Approved Body and Paint Centre can be sure their vehicle will be restored back to Volvo's stringent safety and quality standards. This peace of mind is thanks to the Volvo safety technicians in Sweden who regularly crash-test a Volvo, then set about repairing it.  Once repaired, the car is then crash-tested for the second time using the same crash test scenario.  All the results of the repair techniques are rigorously checked to ensure that the car performs as well in the second test as it did in the first.

The data and information from these tests are passed to the official network of Volvo Body and Paint Centres across the UK, telling technicians exactly how to repair an extensive library of accidents. This means they understand the complex way all Volvo's safety features interact and can restore them to their original specifications. For example, in the event of an accident the seatbelt pretensioners will have probably been activated, leaving them less functional in the event of a second collision.  If they have been triggered, authorised Volvo technicians will always be able to identify this and replace them accordingly.
