Volvo supports a unique festival in a unique location

Volvo Car UK has joined forces with Festival No 6 for the second year in succession, held in the unique location of Portmeirion, Wales between the 5th and 7th September 2014.

Visitors to the festival will be given the opportunity to take part in a free one hour standup paddle boarding lesson, conducted by members of Team Volvo1. It is open to individuals, couples, families and groups and will be held on the beach within Portmeirion.

Festival No 6 prides itself in attracting top-line acts and this year is no exception with London Grammar, Beck and the Pet Shop Boys, to name but a few. Joining the confirmed acts will be Volvo’s own Andreas Moe, the Swedish born singer/songwriter who is supported by Volvo Car UK in his bid to break the UK. Andreas will be putting on two performances in the Portmeirion Town Hall in front of a limited number of lucky festival goers.

Due to the festival’s unique location, 3G access is limited. Therefore Volvo is using its own infotainment system, Sensus Connect, to supply complimentary Wi-Fi access to all visitors. The Wi-Fi access will allow visitors to keep their friends and family updated on their festival experiences through social media channels and internet access.

Through Volvo Car UK’s sponsorship of Sky Atlantic, a special advanced preview of one of the channel’s brand new series will be screened in the new venue of the Gate House, two weeks prior to its broadcast premier.

Volvo will also be supporting the festival with cars to help compliment the public Ride and Drive Shuttle Service, as well as providing VIP Artists Shuttle cars and production support cars.

Nikki Rooke, head of corporate communications, events and sponsorship for Volvo Car UK said, “I’m delighted to be teaming up with Festival No 6 for the second year in succession. This is a truly unique festival that fits perfectly with Volvo’s brand and set in such an idyllic backdrop. I’m sure the festival goers will have a great time giving standup paddle boarding a try and I hope they enjoy Andreas’s performance.”

Festival No 6 is an intimate boutique music and arts festival set in the unique setting of Portmeirion, giving visitors the choice of sleeping in a castle, a boutique tipi/bell tent or in their own tent. Visitors are able to watch headline acts in the lush colourful gardens, catch a comedian in the historical town hall, stroll to a string ensemble on the estuary promenade or enjoy their favourite DJ. Also on offer are an eclectic mix of screenings, readings, performance art, installations, intimate talks and conversations.

Festival Director, Bradley Thompson said, “Having worked with Volvo on a number of incredible projects over the past few years, we have always been impressed with their forward thinking attitude and way in which they work with us as a brand and festival to not only provide a service for those attending, but add to the overall experience. I am particularly looking forward to the standup paddle boarding on the Estuary and the exclusive performance in the Town Hall from Swedish artist Andreas Moe.”

Festival No 6 is held in the unique village of Portmeirion on the north Welsh coast, it was built by visionary Welsh architect Sir Clough Williams-Ellis and was the iconic film setting of ‘The Prisoner’.  It is set on its own private peninsula on the southern shores of Snowdonia, standing on cliff top overlooking Cardigan Bay and surrounded by 145 acres of sub-tropical woodlands and miles of sandy beaches. The village gives a unique location to a unique festival.
