Volvo Cars, the premium car maker, reported a global year-on-year sales increase of 14.1 per cent for the first quarter of 2018, as sales in all main markets increased compared with the same period last year.
The new Volvo XC40 small SUV has been named the 2018 European Car of the Year ahead of the Geneva Motor Show in Switzerland. It is the first win of this prestigious award for Volvo Cars, the premium car maker.
Volvo Cars’ good start to 2018 continued in February after the premium car maker reported a global year-on-year sales increase of 12.1 per cent for the month, with deliveries of the new XC40 small SUV now underway.
Volvo Cars, the premium car maker, has reported a strong 27.7 per cent increase in operating profit in 2017, earning a record SEK14.1 billion compared with SEK11.0 billion in 2016, driven by global sales of 571,577 cars.
Volvo Cars’ first entry into the small premium SUV segment is proving popular among car buyers, with global XC40 orders already exceeding 20,000 units. Delivery of cars to dealers started earlier this month.
