One of the most anticipated car launches of recent years – Volvo’s all-new XC90 – begins today. Volvo Cars has created a launch programme that will unveil the car from the inside out, meaning that it will start by disclosing the many new interior features of the car and culminate in the full external reveal in August.
The designers and engineers behind Volvo’s all-new XC90, which will be revealed later this year, have completely re-conceived the way drivers operate their cars by dispensing with the normal array of buttons and replacing them with a large tablet-like touch screen, a head-up display and thumb controls on the steering wheel.
Volvo Cars’ European sales increased 12.9 per cent in the first eight months of this year, making it the fastest growing top 5 premium brand in Europe, according to independent figures compiled by the European Automobile Manufacturers Association (ACEA).
The all-new Volvo XC90 is a visually striking, premium quality seven seat SUV with world leading safety features, new powertrain technologies, an unrivalled combination of power and fuel efficiency and a superlative interior finish.
The first Volvo designed from the ground up for plug-in/electrification compatibility, the XC90 T8 delivers all the performance of a luxury SUV, but with emission levels that even small hybrid cars struggle to match.
Robin Page, Head of Interior Design at Volvo Car Group, has been chosen from a list of highly distinguished automotive designers to receive the Interior Designer of the Year Award. The judging panel also awarded the new Volvo XC90 with the title "Interior Design of the Year – Production Vehicle".
