Volvo Cars has performed crash tests with electric cars in their crash test facility. This image illustrates a pole crash test with the C30 DRIVe Electric in 50 km/h (30 mph). The Lithium-Ionbatteries are installed in the propshaft tunnel and in the space normally occupied by the fuel tank, outside the passenger compartment and away from the crumple zones. Volvo Cars will start low scale production of C30 DRIVe Electric cars in the beginning of 2011 with the objective to be able to offer electric vehicles with no compromises on e.g. safety, comfort and driving experience.
