Autonomous drive technology – long-range radar

As a part of the autonomous driving project Drive Me, Volvo Car is presenting a unique, complete system solution that makes it possible to integrate self-driving cars in real traffic – with ordinary people in the driver’s seat. Long-range radars are placed in the rear of the car ensure a good rearward detection of vehicles in parallel lanes. This technology is particularly useful when changing lanes because it can detect fast-moving vehicles approaching from far behind.
