Volvo Car Corporation announces Top Management changes

 

Volvo Car Corporation has appointed two new members of the Executive Management Team; Axel J Maschka is the new Senior Vice President Purchasing and Maria Hemberg is the new General Counsel.


Axel Maschka, 45, holds a degree in engineering from the University of Stuttgart, Germany, and was most recently the President and CEO of the engine systems entity within supplier Continental AG. Prior to that he has been in leading positions with Bosch during 2001-2008, based in Germany, France and India.
Axel Maschka will take up the position as Senior Vice President Purchasing starting January 1st, 2012. He succeeds Bernt Ejbyfeldt who has left the company.

His experience will be a valuable asset for Volvo Car Corporation in our efforts to further develop and strengthen our sourcing and supplier base", comments Stefan Jacoby, President and CEO of Volvo Car Corporation.

With my multi-cultural experience from the automotive industry I will work closely with Engineering, Manufacturing and our suppliers and partners to grow Volvo Car Corporation globally", says Axel Maschka.

 

Maria Hemberg has been appointed General Counsel and Senior Vice President, starting March 1st 2012. She succeeds Elisabet Wenzlaff who has decided to leave the company.

Maria Hemberg, 46, holds a Master in Law from the University of Lund, Sweden, and comes from a position as Legal counsel at SKF headquarters in Göteborg where she has worked since 2000, with focus on mergers & acquisitions, joint ventures and other corporate matters. She also has a vast experience from working with legal matters related to the automotive business.

"I am very excited to join Volvo Car Corporation at a time of strong growth and development. Having worked in a global company, I am familiar with international cultures and relationships and not least the legal side of doing business in China," says Maria Hemberg.
