Volvo Car Group initiates world unique Swedish pilot project with self-driving cars on public roads - Newsfeed

Volvo Cars will play a leading role in the world’s first large-scale autonomous driving pilot project in which 100 self-driving Volvo cars will use public roads in everyday driving conditions around the Swedish city of Gothenburg. The ground-breaking project ‘Drive Me – Self-driving cars for sustainable mobility’ was officially launched during a press conference in Stockholm on December 2, 2013. Speakers in the video are Håkan Samuelsson, President & CEO of Volvo Cars; Erik Coelingh, Technical Specialist at Volvo Cars; Claes Tingvall, Director of Traffic Safety at the Swedish Transport Administration; and Catharina Elmsäter-Svärd, Swedish Minister for Infrastructure. B-roll material is available at request. The video showcases some functionality of technologies that are being developed and tested by Volvo Cars. The technology is currently not available in any Volvo cars.
