Volvo Overseas Delivery Continues to Outpace the Competition - 2005 year-to-date sales up nearly 30 percent; 2004 a record-breaking year

Irvine, CA (July 11, 2005) – In an increasingly competitive marketplace, the Volvo Overseas Delivery (OSD) program continues it segment-leading performance for the first half of 2005.  Year-to-date sales through the OSD program through June increased a remarkable 27 percent over the same period for 2004. With sales of 1,400 units, the Volvo OSD Program considerably outsold its segment rivals with BMW selling 1,032 units; Mercedes-Benz, 526 vehicles, and Saab with just 109 cars.

The month of June was a considerable boost for the OSD program with sales of 420 units. That's a 3.7 percent increase over June, 2004 and put Volvo once again as the segment leader for the month. In fact, Volvo Overseas Delivery was the only manufacturer in the segment to show growth for the month of June. Rivals BMW, Mercedes-Benz and Saab were down 17.3 percent, 29.6 percent and 43.2 percent, respectively.

"To be the best in this competitive marketplace is no small task. But we feel the Volvo program offers the best value with the right line-up of vehicles," noted Lasse Magnusson, Overseas Delivery Manager. Volvo's broad product range and flexible program options have helped turn Overseas Delivery into the industry leader and made it the number one such program in its segment for 2004.

Consisting of rivals Mercedes-Benz, BMW and Saab, Volvo delivered 2,327 vehicles in 2004, recognizing an impressive 14.7 percent increase over 2003.
