Large Design Award for YCC Team

 

 

The Volvo Cars' YCC Team (Your Concept Car) has received one of the world's largest design awards, the Torsten och Wanja Söderbergs Pris.
The nine women get to share the prize sum of 600 000 SEK (65 000 USD).

"By their solutions for of storage, accessibility, vision and the possibility to personalize the interior, the group has in a convincing way showed possible solutions for future cars", wrote the jury.

 

"The outer and inner shape together with the choice of material connects to the best of Scandinavian design tradition, but is at the same time new and progressive," continued the jury.

 

The prize winners are: Maria Uggla, Anna Rosén, Cynthia Charwick, Maria Widell Christiansen, Camilla Palmertz, Eva-Lisa Andersson, Elna Holmberg, Lena Ekelund och Tatiana Butovitsch Temm

 

In Volvo’s YCC concept car, all the decisions were made by women. The car was unveiled at the car show in Geneva in March 2004, and has attracted immense attention the world over. Since then, the YCC has toured over 20 world cities, making its way to Asia in spring 2005.

 

The prize ceremony will take place at the Design museum in Göteborg 3 November. Between 4 November 2005 and 8 January 2006 the YCC will be displayed at the Design Museum.
