“The Volvo XC70 continues to become increasingly popular,” says Steve Harper, Platform chief designer. “The fact that we have made it even more rugged and durable is going to attract still further interest to this model.”
The current Volvo V70 was launched in spring 2000 as the second generation of the V70 model. It was developed to secure Volvo’s position as a leading manufacturer of medium and large estate cars. The Volvo V70 followed the new, rounder design language that was introduced with the Volvo S80.
“For model year 2005, we listened very attentively to our customers and dealers,” says Steve Harper, Platform chief designer. “The car has been on the market for more than three years and this has given us time to evaluate all views and opinions. We have made comprehensive changes – outside to enhance the car’s unique profile, and inside to boost the sensation of quality and comfort.”
At the start of the year, Volvo Cars presented four new safety systems that will be launched in the company’s car models over the forthcoming period. One of them was BLIS – Blind Spot Information System – which was unveiled on the Volvo stand at the Detroit motor show.
