Volvo Cars appoints Alain Visser as new Senior Vice President Marketing, Sales and Customer Service

Doug Speck, Senior Vice President Marketing Sales & Customer Service, has elected to leave Volvo Car Group (Volvo Cars) to pursue a new career opportunity in the United States. Following this decision, Alain Visser has been appointed to succeed Doug Speck and will become a member of the Volvo Cars Executive Management Team.

Alain Visser joined Volvo Cars in 2012 and will assume his new position as per July 1st. His current function is Vice President, Sales & Marketing.

"I am happy to welcome Alain Visser to the Executive Management of Volvo Cars. Alain has already started a positive change process within the sales organization aiming at increasing speed and sales by enhancing brand execution," says Håkan Samuelsson, President and CEO of Volvo Cars.

In the third quarter of 2012, Doug Speck took on an additional, direct, operational responsibility to secure that Volvo's brand, sales and customer service deliverables in China were foundationally sound, properly focused and effectively implemented.  Since the start of this assignment Volvo's performance in China has been on a positive trend which is why Doug Speck has been asked to uphold that responsibility within the framework of a consultancy business throughout the remainder of 2013.

"Doug Speck has had a very successful career with Volvo Cars. He was a highly recognised President for Volvo Cars North America when he was recruited to join our Executive Management Team in 2011. Since joining the Executive Team he has played an integral role in the development of our marketing, sales and customer service organisation focusing them upon the delivery of our new corporate and brand strategies," said Håkan Samuelsson.
