Volvo Car Corporation appoints Mats Fägerhag as Vice President Alliance Office

Volvo Car Corporation appoints Mats Fägerhag as Vice President Alliance Office within Product Strategy & Vehicle Line Management. His most recent position was as Executive Director of Product Development at Saab Automobile AB.

Mats Fägerhag, 50, studied mechanical engineering at Lund University and has spent most of his working life in the automotive industry. From several management positions at Saab Automobile and General Motors, he assumed the challenge to lead GM Europe's vehicle system engineering in Frankfurt, Germany, and developed among other things, two new global model platforms.

In conjunction with GM's sale of Saab Automobile, Mats Fägerhag decided to return to Sweden and was asked to lead the Product Development at Saab Automobile.

"It is with great pleasure that I welcome Mats Fägerhag to Volvo Car Corporation. Mats' broad experience and knowledge bring a new perspective to our organisation" says Lex Kerssemakers, Senior Vice President Product Strategy & Vehicle Line Management, Volvo Car Corporation.

The Alliance Office has been established as a result of Volvo Car Corporation's new position as a stand-alone car manufacturer with a new corporate strategy. Co-operations with other companies in the automotive industry will play an important role when developing future Volvo cars. The role of the Vice President Alliance Office will be to lead all alliance projects including technical, legal and commercial aspects.

"I am very pleased with the opportunity to work at Volvo Car Corporation. It's exciting to be part of the intensive expansion the company is going through, not least in the Chinese market," says Mats Fägerhag.

Mats Fägerhag will assume his new position with immediate effect.
