Volvo Polestar Racing crashes out of WTCC finale on top

The WTCC (World Touring Car Championship) season ended abruptly for Volvo Polestar Racing as Robert Dahlgren crashed out of qualifying as fastest driver after hitting debris from a previous crash at legendary street track Macau.

"Robert has got pain in one hand, but is fine other than that. Although the car is beyond repair unfortunately," said Alexander Murdzevski Schedvin, Motorsport Commercial Director at Volvo Car Corporation.

Dahlgren was fastest in the first qualifying session and managed to set the fastest first sector in the second qualifying session just before the crash, a sector time that no one was able to beat as the session later resumed.

"The season end did obviously not turn out as we hoped for, but the team has time after time showed that they are able to adapt quickly during the season, no matter the challenge or condition. To be fastest in qualifying at a very difficult track like Macau, where neither Dahlgren nor Volvo Polestar Racing have raced before, clearly shows the potential of the team," said Alexander Murdzevski Schedvin.
