Volvo Polestar Racing tops the points tables for both drivers and teams in the Scandinavian Touring Car Championship after the third race at Mantorp Park this weekend. Tommy Rustad is new leader in the drivers' championship after a strong second place.
The STCC weekend at Mantorp Park provided tough racing. Rustad fell victim of two incidents in the first race but still managed to secure sixth position.
"Flash and Stureson were a bit eager in their attempts to pass. But I managed to finish the race despite severe damage on my front right wheel," said Rustad.
Rustad emerged as championship leader with a gap of five points as the dust settled at Mantorp Park.
"It has been a good weekend and I am thoroughly pleased with taking over the championship lead," said Rustad.
"The next race is at our home track in Gothenburg, a track that suits us really well. The goal is no doubt to keep the lead of both championships."
Team mate James Thompson scored important points with two fifth places to put Volvo Polestar Racing in the lead in the team championship with a ten point margin.
"We are taking steps forward for each race and it feels good with two top five finishes," said Thompson.
STCC continues at Gothenburg City Race Arena in four weeks. For more information, visit www.volvopolestarracing.com
