Volvo Car Group announces November retail sales: global sales up 5.8 per cent, strong growth in China and Europe

Volvo Car Group announces November retail sales:

Volvo Cars’ global sales up 5.8 per cent, strong growth in China and Europe

  • Global sales of 37,945 cars, up 5.8 per cent versus November last year
  • Fifth consecutive month with sales growth
  • China up 69.4 per cent in November

With an all-time high sales result for a single month, China was Volvo Car Group’s (Volvo Cars) number one market in November with 5,995 retail sold cars, representing an increase of 69.4 per cent. The best-selling model was the Volvo XC60 with 2,673 cars, which also was a record.

Sales in Europe grew significantly, boosted by positive developments in several markets such as Italy and Spain where Volvo Cars also performed better than the market, capturing higher market shares versus last year. The Netherlands continues to represent the majority of European growth driven by the Volvo V60 Plug-in Hybrid and the Volvo V40, and Volvo is now outselling all other premium car brands in this market.

Volvo Cars also strengthened its leadership in the Swedish market, reporting significant growth on a declining market. The United States reported retail sales of 4,233 cars and a decrease versus last year which, however, was the result of some one-time effects that boosted sales to an extraordinary level in November 2012. The Volvo XC60 and S60 carlines were the top sellers and the product offer will soon be strengthened by the introduction of the Volvo V60 sports wagon.

“We have now reported global growth during five consecutive months and we are also showing year-to-date growth versus last year. Sweden and China are very strong, Europe shows a positive trend and in the US we now have the right tools to get back on track,” says Alain Visser, Senior Vice President Marketing, Sales and Customer Service at Volvo Cars.
