Since 1965 Volvo Car Corporation assembles cars in Ghent, Belgium. Initially Volvo Cars Gent had only a Trim and Final department, but since 1972 a welding plant and a body shop were added.


The first car to be produced in Ghent was the Volvo Amazon (P120). In 2004 the 3 millionth car rolled off the assembly lines.
Volvo Cars Gent is one of the largest employers in the Belgian province Oost-Vlaanderen (Eastern Flanders).

243,262 (sedans: 48 %, estates: 48 %, C30: 3%)

Volvo S40, V50, S60, V70, C30  (start autumn 2006)

North America 26.7%, Europe 66%, Far East 5.4%
